The DeKalb Community Impact Corporation is a faith-based organization whose mission is to encourage children, youth and their families to develop their full potential spiritually, relationally, educationally, and physically. Core to our mission is to provide character-building programs that strengthen the individual and empower them to serve others. We desire to provide culturally relevant opportunities that were previously unobtainable geographically or financially for some individuals.

 

We have grown out of one of the county's strongest churches and have evolved into a community led non-profit organization addressing the need to support children and their families.  We believe the communityh is strengthened as these children and their families are built up to reach their full potential.

As in many counties, DeKalb children and families are facing serious issues that require the cooperation of community resources.  Over 70 drug arrests were made in the last twelve months, leaving many families impacted by this horror.  Funding for extracurricular activities in our school systems are strained by state and federal budget cuts.  The rise of single parent homes leaves many children without mentors and role models.  Positive cultural experiences for youth are growing less available.  Positive recreational activities that teach more than competition are severly lacking.  All of these issues point to the need for the kind of services the DCIC is positioned to bring to DeKalb County.

 

The DCIC brings a truly faith based approach to programs aimed at addressing the root causes of these community needs.  We believe that by building individuals spiritually, educationally, relationally, and physically, we can help families embrace a lifestyle that avoids many of the social problems hurting our community.  Each program run, or planned to be run, by the DCIC help children and families in these key areas of development.
